Let me introduce myself
Hello all,my name is Dino. I'm a 33 year old supermarket manager in Long Island,NY. I have taken an interest in the grocery business 18 years ago as a part time kid. thru those years I tried different types of employment for brief periods of time. nothing could hold my interest and passion like working in the food store. As silly as it may seem to some,I really find enjoyment in it!
As time went on I went from a shopping cart collector to cashier. I had a desire to learn more and more. I would ask questions to the older associates that have been there for years. Why did you display the tuna fish with mayonnaise? A simple answer to many, but it was my curiosity that made me learn. While other 17 year olds just wanted to make money to go out on a Saturday night,to them it was just a boring job. Eventually I was taken under the wing of a store manager that saw potential in me and gave me responsibility's. The years past on and I learned a lot about all aspects of the business. Finally at 21 years old I was recognized by supervisors for my passion and dedication to the store. I was given the title of Assistant Manager. As a manager, customer service would be my number one priority. Being a people person I love the interaction with customers. Listening and addressing there concerns is important and I was the guy to be on the front line. If I let anybody walk out of my store dissatisfied I failed. I wanted people to leave thinking wow the service is great here,I'm coming back here again!!
Six years later I was approached by the owner of another supermarket chain to run one of his stores. He heard of the job i was doing and made me a great offer. After a week or two of thinking it over with my wife I decided to accept. It was for the good of my family. Another six years later as a store manager I'm still learning new things everyday.
